Kiwis in Reading!!!
The New Zealand Women's lacrosse team spent five days in Reading as part of their preparation for the Women's World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic which ran from June 17 to 27th.
The squad of 22 were hosted by the Club and Queen Anne’s School in Caversham
The Wildcats leapt to the assistance of the Kiwis when escalating costs caused by the rise in the value of the Euro threatened the team’s participation in the World Cup.
Paul Mollison, Head Coach of the team said, 'As a completely amateur sport we get no financial support for representing New Zealand so the players fund everything themselves. Thanks to one of our players, Hannah Doney, having moved to NZ from Reading a couple of years ago, we were able to tap into the generosity of the people in Reading to provide accommodation for the entire squad in players' homes. This allowed us to complete the warm-up programme so that we can make sure that the players have the best experience at the Championships'
